QLD: Dogs and methadone used in crackdown on prison drugs
The Queensland government has launched a crackdown against drugs in prisons.
It will introduce specially-trained sniffer dogs and a 12-month trial of a methadone
program.
Corrective Services Minister TOM BARTON says the so-called passive alert dogs are trained
not to bark, but to sit in front of targets they've identified as carrying drugs into prisons.
He says they'll be used in the visitors' sections of each prison and throughout the prisons
