NSW: Leave car at home for NYE fireworks Sydneysiders urged
Major road closures will be in force tomorrow as an estimated one million people pour
into the centre of Sydney for the New Year's Eve fireworks extravaganza.
Sydneysiders have been urged to leave the car at home and take public transport, with
extra bus and train services running until the early hours.
However, ferry services will be cut from mid-afternoon.
The Cahill Expressway will be closed from noon and roads will be shut at the northern
end of the CBD as well as at Circular Quay, The Rocks, Millers Point and Pyrmont from
6pm to 5am.
Special event clearways will be enforced on major roads in and around the city and
there'll be no on-street parking in the CBD and most of the Pyrmont and Ultimo areas.
Special New Year's Eve public transport tickets are available.
